Help me give my students a squeaky clean classroom where we can try and stay as germ free as possible during the cold winter months. We could really use a vacuum cleaner and some basic cleaning supplies.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 23 energetic fourth graders in my New York City classroom. Many of the children come from low-economic households, but they have big dreams. They understand the importance of a good education. Most of the students attend after-school programs as well, so they spend the majority of their day in school.
My students work both in homogeneous groups and in heterogeneous groups in order to accomplish their daily learning targets.
We not only focus our academic goals, but on our social-emotional goals as well. We are involved with the Leader in Me program and practice our 7 Habits of Happy Kids. We understand that in order to be successful in school, we must always try our best. We motivate each other and work as a team.
My Project
It is so important to keep the classroom extra clean during the long winter months since it is Flu season. Our classroom has flexible seating which means the children are constantly moving around and working in groups. They find "Smart Seats", which can be a cozy spot on the carpet with a pillow, a yoga ball or a yoga mat. We need to keep all the areas of the classroom as sanitized as possible.
We humbly request a vacuum cleaner and some basic cleaning supplies so we can keep our classroom squeaky clean.
I love my students and I want them to come to school everyday to an inviting environment. There is no way to completely avoid the cold and flu season, but by sanitizing the classroom we might be able to keep some germs from spreading. We want to be as healthy as possible.
