My Students

As a Reading/ELA teacher, this phrase resonates in my mind every day:

"Today a reader, tomorrow a leader".

My students are of very mixed ability and background. I am part of a teaching team, so I serve 54 students each and every day. As I solely focus on reading this year, I realize that these students just do not have everything they need to be successful readers.

My students love to come to school, cheer when we get new resources for the classroom, and most importantly have the desire to learn as much as they can every day.

My Project

I am asking for a new classroom rug for our reading area. This rug will replace a small, worn out rug that my students have been using for years. We use the carpet as a meeting space, a spot for seating during center activities, and a place to sit comfortably and simply read a book.

My students deserve to have a clean rug that seats everyone and is comfortable.

Allowing them to have a carpet that is large enough allows everyone to have a "spot" to learn. It will allow each student to have his or her own personal space, and not be distracted by others when trying to focus on their task.
