My students need stools and a multicultural rug to sit on when we have our morning meeting. Morning meeting is a very crucial part of building a classroom community.
Working in a school with students that are 100% free or reduced rate lunch, my students have needs that go far beyond their academics. I want to provide a classroom with supplies that will give them the best experience in third grade! My students also come from many different cultural backgrounds. Our school is predominately African American and Hispanic. I want to create a classroom environment that is inclusive of all cultures. We work to engage our students in the best ways possible. I want my students to enjoy coming to school and having an engaging classroom environment is the ticket to success for that. I have students at all different levels and with different needs and personal interests. I want to provide a classroom environment that meets everyone's needs and wants in the classroom. I expect a lot from my students because I believe each one of them can succeed and I want to provide them with the tools to help them reach their goals.
My Project
My students will feel as though they are represented in the classroom with the multicultural rug. My students and I all come from different cultural backgrounds and I feel that it is important for all of these to be represented throughout the classroom.
Building a classroom community each year is a priority to me as a teacher.
With having this rug, we will be able to have a space to sit together for morning meeting and whole group instruction. The stools will be used for my small group time. Students will be able to sit comfortably together at my table. I believe this is important for their success as learners.
