Every morning my four year olds and I gather on the carpeting to do some community building and learning. Currently, they don't have spots that they can call their own. Four year olds are learning about personal bubbles and respecting each others space. his carpet is the missing piece.
The students in my classroom come from a variety of households with a lot of different experiences.
In my classroom, we are becoming a family in which we can trust each other and build upon our previous knowledge and experiences. The kids are so eager to learn and love coming to school where they feel safe and loved. This is true of the entire school family as well.
My Project
This carpeting is the missing piece to our four year old kindergarten classroom. The children will be able to have their own space where their peers will learn to respect their boundaries. This is also a dual purpose carpeting in which we will be able to play interactive alphabet games with the use of the carpet.
My students are just beginning to learn about personal boundaries, and coming from a variety of backgrounds, they need to learn how to respect others boundaries as well.
This is a skill that children of all ages need to learn and respect. Once they feel like others are respecting their personal space, they will be more comfortable to learn without being concerned with who may be invading their space.
More than half of students from low‑income households
