This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten students are learning who they are, their interests, and understanding their motivation for school. They are a group of kindergartners that attend a Title I school in a Phoenix urban school district. They are made up of a diverse set of backgrounds and include English language learners, special education students, and those receiving free or reduced lunches.

Most importantly, my students love coming to school, learning, and being in kindergarten.

My Project

My ultimate goal is to create students who are empowered learners who can successfully apply information to a variety of real-life situations. I believe in respecting and supporting the multiple ways that children learn and represent their understanding of life and the world around them. Learning for young children must be active and social in nature. Children are thinking, moving, feeling, and interacting human beings. I focus on each student’s needs and interest and celebrate his or her diversity. I believe that authentic learning occurs when identity, culture, and community are valued and become vehicles for learning. Diversity, the willingness to try, encouragement, and celebration define the truly effective kindergarten family of focused learners.

These materials will be used to help remind and guide our kinder friends where they are to stand, sit, and walk in our classroom to maintain the rules of social distancing.

The bright and friendly colors will bring joy to our classroom instead of plain regular tape. In our class, we are committed to creating a learning community that values caring relationships, inquiry and innovation, creativity and a democratic way of life. Persevering through all of the challenges of the past and future to come.
