Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When I am showing and educational video, my students have to surround my computer. They have to stand near by so that they can hear the audio. Sometimes, I have to show the video a few times to be assured that everyone was able hear.

My students approach life with the enthusiasm and curiosity that all five-year-old children seem to have in abundance.

Despite living in a low socioeconomic area where their parents struggle to make ends meet, they are incredibly hopeful and looking forward to the future. My students' parents want the best education possible for them but due to financial constraints, many cannot afford to have books, puzzles or other educational toys at home. It is up to me and the school to provide these wonderful, amazing, eager and bright kids with a wide variety of learning tools. We are a Title 1 school, which means that we do get funds to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantaged, but not enough to provide every classroom with all the "extras" that they need. In fact due to all the budget cuts, we are running very low on essential supplies such as pencils, crayons, scissors, erasers, and even multipurpose paper. Please help us get a wireless speaker for our classroom.

My Project

After I read a story such as Harry the Dirty Dog, I like going Online to show my students a second reading of that story by a a celebrity reader. My students love these videos. Unfortunately, it is difficult to hear the celebrity readers as my computer speakers are not loud enough. My students love these story videos so they try to be as quiet as possible but it is still hard to hear. The wireless speakers will help my students better hear all the story videos and other education videos that I may be showing. I will also be able to connect my ipod to the speakers so that my students can hear children songs that I have downloaded for them. We will be able to do a lot of singing and dancing. We would also like a USB Flash Drive and Memory Card. I take pictures of my students all year long so I would like to keep them all in one place. The USB flash drive and Memory Card will be used for this purpose.

Having a wireless speaker in my classroom means that my students will be able to hear better when I play a video or a song.

Their love for literacy will grow as they enjoy hearing a celebrity read one of their favorite stories. Please support our classroom by donating to our project.
