My Students

My inner city students come from various family backgrounds, differing both economically and culturally. Even with these differences, they all come to school full of creativity, curious, and full of energy! Kindergarteners love hands-on, active, and engaging lessons that allow them to showcase their potential! Most of my students love coming to school each day not only to learn and feed their brains, but to feel loved and to feed their soul. My classroom is built around love, laughter, and learning!

My Project

The carpet in my classroom is the focal point to our little community. It is where we start our day with our morning meeting, share our ideas and experiences, listen to read alouds, and begin some of our engaging lessons. My current carpet only has 25 spots and as of last year my class size has jumped to 26. It was very challenging trying to make all students feel like they were part of a community when one student always needed to sit off to the side. Having a carpet large enough to accommodate my new larger class size would mean the world to my students and myself.
