My Project
My kiddos need their very own place to keep their things. Right now the kiddos only have cardboard mailboxes that barely hold their library books. All the other Kindergartners in the school have their own desks to keep their school materials like textbooks, workbooks, and pencil boxes. My classroom is set up as a TK room and only contains round tables without desks. This school year we have too many Kindergarteners and not enough TK students so I have a combination class. My kiddos need their own personal space! At this time their workbooks are stacked in my bookshelf and their pencil boxes are sitting on a table that should be used for small group activities. Instead I am forced to use my rug for groups. The kiddos have to use my old dry erase lap boards to use as hard surfaces to do their worksheets on the carpet. We actually don’t get as much done because the kiddos have to get a lap board from one place, their workbooks from another place, and their pencil boxes from somewhere else. It takes twice and much time. Having a cubby for each student would save time. The kiddos would have one centralized place to get their things from. Then my small group table would also be free to use. The cubbies would also benefit my TK students because they can keep their library books, and class projects there. Having cubbies would also make it take less time at the end of the day to prepare for dismissal. Every minute we save adds minutes to their academic time and since I have a combination class, it is already difficult each and every day for me to get everything done to benefit both grade levels. Please help! My kiddos deserve it!!
