My Students

I work with awesome kids who have special needs. They participate in an Early Childhood Special Education Kindergarten Program. My students have Individualized Education Plans based on their special needs such as Autism and Speech and Language Delays. They attend a public school in a high poverty district.

My students work hard and are gaining skills in the areas of math, reading, writing, social skills and language development.

My students are achieving their goals, and I am proud to be their teacher!

My Project

My students spend a lot of their day sitting, working and playing on the floor. They are in a Special Education Kindergarten class, and sometimes a desk and chair are just not appropriate. We are in need of carpet squares! I plan to place the carpet squares in our whole group area of the classroom. When all the students are gathered on the carpet they will each have a space of their own that they know only belongs to them. Having their own space makes them feel special, but it also helps them understand where to keep their feet and hands so that their friends/classmates also have space to work.
