My Students
We spend most of our time at the carpet area thinking, listening, sharing, and even singing and dancing! Our carpet area is where much of our daily learning occurs. We spend a lot of time at the rug to engage in our math, reading, social studies, and science lessons!
The students that I teach are a group of five and six year old kids who love learning!
My students love to come together to listen and share ideas with one another. They are respectful, kind, and hard working. Our school is a Title 1 school and has a population with 70% free and reduced lunches. My classroom has 50% English Language Learners. My kids come to school each day with a smile and an excitement to learn!
My Project
In our class, the rug is a central meeting spot. We come together at the rug after an independent or small group activity, they listen to a lesson at the rug, we carry out whole group and individual activities at the rug, work in small groups, and we come together to share. The classroom rug is a place for all, where all students feel secure and are ensured a place for optimal learning.
With this classroom rug, it will help provide a space for all by giving each student a spacious and colorful space.
It will help students engage better to a lesson. It gives my ELL students more visual support to help their language, social, and cognitive needs.
