Help me give my students their own space for all their reading materials and school supplies. This enables them to take initiative to read and write at their independent time when all materials are well-organized.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of my students are first generation immigrants from China or Hong Kong. They come to school every day eager to explore and learn new things. Our school is located near an area where most new immigrants nestled, and most of our families face challenges economically.
Over 70% of the students qualified for free or reduced price school lunch.
They have the disadvantage of not being read to in their early years. They also do not receive much help with homework from their parents due to a language barrier.
My Project
Students are more motivated to learn by themselves if materials are organized and accessible to them. The chair back storage provides not just a private space for students to put reading and writing materials in but it also becomes a storage area for their favorite school supplies. It is such a rewarding learning experience for first graders who are eager to take control of their learning activities. As a teacher, it will be my greatest mission to create a joyful and safe learning environment for my students to become autonomous learners themselves.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
