Help me give my students a little more space for whole group learning and community building along with fluorescent light filters to help bring our classroom to a calm, smoothing light.
In our classroom, we learn by wondering, investigating, sharing our findings, and extending that learning on to the next level. We learn through STEM integration and project/problem based learning. My students work collaboratively to solve problems and become more critical thinkers. They engage in group tasks and learn from each other on a daily basis.

My Project
In primary aged classrooms you will almost always find a carpet. The carpet is the heart of the classroom! In our classroom this where we do some of our most important learning! We start our day with morning meeting together around the carpet. Throughout the school day we can be found at the carpet buddy reading, engaging in a mini-lesson, playing academic games, enjoying a read aloud, Star Student presentations, author’s chair, guest scientist, and SO much more! At the end of the day we can be found back at the carpet debriefing our day and sharing the best part!
It is at the carpet that we learn from each other, we encourage each other, we take risks together, we compliment each other, we build character, self-esteem, and community.
The carpet is the heart of the classroom! We have run out of space on our small carpet and we are trying so hard to focus, but it can be difficult when we do not have our own space. We have outgrown our carpet and we need a little more wiggle room. We learn best when we have our own personal space to focus on our learning. This new carpet will provide boundaries and a space for each student to call their own!
In addition we are seeking your help in getting some blue light diffusing covers for our fluorescent lights in our classroom. Blue light can be calming and will dim our harsh fluorescent lighting. We spend most of our day in our classroom learning and growing, the more calming our environment the more focused our learning will be.
