Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to make sure my classroom provides comfort and care for all my students' needs. This means first and foremost a clean and organized space. Our school is no longer being sent antibacterial wipes or supplies to help prevent the spread of diseases. Our janitorial staff is also stretched to their limits, so the most they do is take out trash. I try to wipe down the classroom and sweep the floors on my own as much as I can.

Beyond that, I want students to feel welcome and embraced when they enter the classroom.

That means playing soothing music when we need to be calm and upbeat music when we want to have more activity. I would love to expose them to using the record player.

I also sponsor the GSA (Genders and Sexualities Alliance) club. Games and art supplies help students enjoy their time with each other in a safe space. Name tags are for their lunch passes and IDs.
