This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is full of active 5 year old students who are excited to be at school. They are beginning their first school and classroom experience when they walk through my door.
My class consists of students that are Vietnamese, African-American, Hispanic, and Caucasian.
Many of the students are English Language Learners. The majority of our school's students are from a low socioeconomic neighborhood, and they have been limited in their exposure to many things. I am thrilled to be their kindergarten teacher and able to provide them many opportunities they haven't been afforded.
My Project
I would love the math stories library set in order to introduce more math lessons while incorporating literacy. I think that all too often my students have a hard time relating math back to their everyday lives. Through using books to introduce lessons I believe this will aid them in this.
I want to provide them with more math centers, math tools, and math experiences so they will continue to develop these skills and be able to apply them in everyday situations.
In using the geo-boards, fish counting game, and number bond boards we can make math fun and exciting!
