A Soft Place to Land

Help me give my students a soft place to land and learn! This area rug will be the perfect place for my little learners to gather together for story time, whole group lessons and class meetings.

My Project

Story time is one of the most exciting parts of our school day! There's nothing like sharing the love of literature with a bunch of bright-eyed little learners! When it's time to gather together for those stories, or for our class meetings and large group lessons, the children have to sit on the cold, tile floor..

A plushy area rug would provide my students a "soft place to land" as we cozy up to our favorite stories and share rich discussions throughout the day together.

At the beginning of those all-group lessons, I always remind my learners to "Scoot closer. I like all my baby ducks in the nest!" or "Come join the group, please." Having the large rug will give the students a specific area for them to find their place on the floor. By seating them closer together, it is so much easier to reinforce the classroom family and learning community feeling.
