This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How many of you like to sit on the carpet and read or watch TV? My students sit on a small carpet everyday for a reading lesson, to listen to a story being read aloud, and to lounge on while reading a book they chose on their own. The current rug we have is 5x8. We need some more space to spread out

My students attend a public school in Camden, NJ.

It is one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S., and yet they are some of the most beautiful children in the world. They did not ask to be born in or around poverty and crime. I try to make our room a refuge for them. A place that they can come to learn and escape the craziness outside. They love reading.

My Project

Should we be lucky enough to receive the new rug, all of the children can fit on the rug to listen to a neat or interesting story. They will have room to stretch out and enjoy a good book or story on their own during centers time. It will give them a place to learn.

The smallest of donations can make the biggest of differences.

Just having the room to sit and read or listen will make a world of difference to my students. They take great pride in our room. Help us make it better.
