My Students

Greetings! I am a high school Digital Arts teacher looking for essential technology to aid my students in creating highly original, imaginative and personalized artworks.

I teach at a charter school in a predominately low income area and my Introduction to Digital Art class serves all grades at the high school level.

My students are eager to learn skills and programs that will help them succeed in the 21st century and at the same time learn how to be creative individuals and think outside of the box.

My Project

Half of my course curriculum is teaching students the tools and techniques of Adobe Photoshop as a medium for producing original artworks. Unfortunately, because most students do not have their own digital cameras to use and I only have 3 cameras for a class of 30, students often rely on manipulating Internet images to create their projects. Not only are most of these images of a low resolution, thus producing a poorer quality result, but it is more difficult for the students to create personalized and meaningful artworks when they are relying on manipulating other peoples photos. I am requesting 2 digital cameras with memory cards and a flat bed scanner for my students to use in this class. By having these resources available, students will have more freedom in the images available for them to use, and will allow them to produce higher quality, original works of art.

Your help will ensure my students the ability to capture and recreate the world with their own personal artistic viewpoint.
