A SMARTBoard for a Culturally Responsive Blended Learning Environment
Help me give my students a SMART Board (Digital Electronic Whiteboard) to enhance their learning experiences in our 21st-century Special Education classroom.
Our "Culturally Responsive" Special Education Math Self-Contained 7th/8th-grade classroom serves 23 predominately African-American students. A SMARTBoard would help them learn Common Core Middle School Math Grade-Level Standards in a fun and engaging way.
The SMARTBoard's interactive, tactile, and multimedia features are the perfect educational tools to facilitate academic success by addressing African-American students' cultural learning styles (visual, verbal, musical, and kinesthetic).
This digital electronic whiteboard platform offers a variety of resources to help my students improve their math skills. These include interactive teacher-led virtual lessons, hands-on virtual manipulatives, engaging practice exercises, online collaborative problem-solving activities, and educational math games to assist learning. Students retain and develop their math abilities through online exercises and educational games. Additionally, they can learn social-emotional skills through videos, PowerPoints, and teacher-made multimedia presentations.
In our classroom, this SMART Board would be a relevant tool for teaching our 21st-century special education learners and delivering instruction on their IEP goals and objectives using accommodation and differentiation strategies.
