Our school is a public charter school on the North Side of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We are designed to meet the needs of students with language-based learning differences, focusing primarily on students with dyslexia. We service students from over 26 different districts, from varying backgrounds with 100% of our students receiving free lunch.
Our school and teachers employ a comprehensive, multi-sensory curriculum and instructional approach designed to support each student in reaching their learning potential.
Many of our students are experiencing success for the first time in their educational careers and are opening their hearts and minds to learning.
My Project
Integrating a Smart TV in my classroom will help reach the needs of every student by keeping them engaged and focused on using something that we all know they love…technology! Many of my struggling readers thrive with assistive technology in the classroom to help them with every day reading needs. Providing them with this extra visual will only encourage them further to become strong, independent readers. It will also give me more opportunities to circulate throughout the classroom while others stay on task using the large screen to refer to. With the use of a mobile Smart TV in the classroom, I can continue to teach my students the importance of collaborating, sharing, and showcasing their hard work with one another in small and large groups. Having a Smart TV in my classroom will give my students the opportunity to explore new things and work together while having fun! Students will gain the confidence and skills they need to succeed in and out of the classroom and learn how to be independent learners.
