Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The snacks in this project will make an immediate difference in my students’ ability to focus, participate, and learn. Many of my second graders come to school hungry or become hungry as the day goes on, which can make it difficult for them to concentrate, regulate emotions, and stay engaged in lessons. Having accessible, nutritious snacks will help keep their energy levels steady so they can fully participate in reading, writing, and math throughout the day.

My goal for this project is to ensure that hunger is never a barrier to learning in my classroom.

By providing consistent snacks, I want to create a supportive environment where students feel cared for, safe, and ready to learn. When students’ basic needs are met, they are more confident, motivated, and better prepared to take academic risks and grow as learners.

My students are special because they are resilient, kind, and eager to learn despite facing challenges outside of school. Many come from low-income families, and school is a place where they rely on structure, encouragement, and support. A simple snack may seem small, but for my students, it sends a powerful message: they are valued, supported, and deserving of every opportunity to succeed.
