Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students put the word "special" in special education! They are an adorable bunch of little ones with curious minds, active imaginations, and eager hands. These little sponges are ready to absorb knowledge and need help to access it.

As time goes on, I see how important technology is for all students, yet mine need it even more!

I teach students in grades K-4, all with a variety of disabilities including learning disabilities, autism, language delays, emotional or behavioral disabilities, and cognitive delays. For students struggling to identify letters or sounds, to read or write, and to comprehend text, technology is needed. Interventions are often on the computer and I have personally funded the computer programs yet need to access them! We do have desktops yet they are outdated, broken, too difficult to work with, and do not allow for students to move with them.

My Project

My students are falling behind and need extra help! I work with special education students who need intense intervention work that is often on the computer. My current desktops are outdated, broken, or too difficult for my students to use. I was so fortunate to have a project funded for toddler tablets which allows my youngest kinder students to use touch technology to practice their skills. Now I am seeking support for my older 1st-4th grade students who are too old for the tablets yet too young to battle the desktops.

We need 4 chromebook laptop computers, one for each center of literacy rotation.

Students will use them to work on reading centers such as Headsprout, Raz-Kids, ABCmouse, Mathscore, Starfall, ABCya, Audio Stories, etc. I have purchased most programs with my personal funds as well as headphones yet need help to add the Chromebooks. Students will rotate between word work, guided reading, writing workshop, and now Chromebook corner!
