This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are intelligent, highly motivated, and love to read. I want to bring a variety of genres into the classroom, and introduce them to classic novels that they may not normally choose.

The use of literature to teach the reading and writing standards is very important to both parents and students in my school.

Our students love to read in their spare time and enjoy literature books more than the standard text book. Novel studies promote a love for reading that goes beyond the classroom.

My Project

Every student needs his/her own copy of the novel to get the most out of the reading experience. The school's set of books is falling apart, and they are difficult to find, and we need to replace them.

The students read, write and perform many portions of this book using all the modes of learning.

Each student will complete questions, create their own pushcart, and learn vocabulary and themes dealing with small business and social justice issues.

Lots of discussion about bullying is weaved throughout this engrossing and entertaining novel. Many of our reading and writing standards can be addressed using this one piece of literature. Many of our former students have commented that this book is one of their favorites.
