Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an occupational therapist, I work with special needs children who require various support services. The students in my school are working towards goals of improving their writing, organization, and social skills to become more independent in the classroom. Currently, the OT space is lacking in organization and shelving. In our space we have equipment such as balls, scooters, and trampoline and a writing center, where we do arts and craft and writing. All of these supplies need a home.
Providing a well organized shelving unit will help us as therapists to access our materials easily and to help our students to get the most out of their sessions.
Proper storage makes our work space safe and neat, as well as visually appealing. Lastly, having a well organized therapy space can help our students become more independent with following directions, retrieving materials, and returning items to their home.
More than half of students from low‑income households
