My Students

I have a class of rambunctious, curious students who absolutely adore learning. My class of first graders thrive from hands-on learning experiences. We strive to provide a project-based, constructivist curriculum where students have an opportunity to construct their own learning and the teachers are merely facilitators in the process. In order for a curriculum like this to take flight, students must be given many, many opportunities to experience learning. In order to create these experiences, we have to provide many opportunities for real life experiences. Doing that is hard when my school is operating on a very, very limited budget.

My students love learning and will benefit tremendously from hands-on experiences.

My school has a very diverse student population and serves students from various incomes. We work together as a diverse community so that everyone has access to high quality learning.

My Project

I am requesting a mobile book browser to house my students' leveled classroom library. I want first graders to have a leveled library that is easily accessible. They need to be able to look through different genres of books so they can grow as readers.

Currently, my books are jammed into small bookshelves that is very difficult for my students to access and navigate.

Reading on their independent level is absolutely crucial to my students' success. Having a classroom library that is easily browsed will help my students increase their reading engagement!
