My students need series books in a leveled library. Many of our students are reading below grade level simply because they are not interested in reading. A leveled library with series books will interest our readers.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in our school have a very special place in my heart, mostly because I went to our school as a kid. I was fortunate enough to have everything I needed as a learner but these students are truly in need of materials to make their learning lives a little easier.
They are primarily from low income, Spanish speaking families.
Our school is a Title I school and our neighborhood is a very diverse community with many low income families just getting by.
My Project
One way to foster this love of books and reading is through book series. When students get captivated by a story line or character and they will want to read more. Popular book series in my classroom library will give students more options. Fancy Nancy, Fly Guy, and Pete the Cat will be great additions to the class library.
My goal is to see my non-readers go to my class library and become so fascinated with a book series that they can't wait to read about what happens next to the character.
I would like to have small group discussions around the characters in the series students are reading, allowing them to their express interest in their own series, as well as, others.
