Help me give my students a sensory-friendly chair that provides the calming support they need to stay focused, feel comfortable, and succeed in a classroom that meets their unique learning needs
In our classroom, students thrive when they have access to flexible seating that meets their individual learning and sensory needs. For students with autism and other sensory processing differences, a traditional hard plastic chair can be distracting, uncomfortable, and even distressing during long periods of focus.
This supportive chair will serve as a sensory-friendly seating option for students in our classroom.
With its cushioned seat, adjustable height, and gentle movement, it will provide calming proprioceptive input—helping students stay grounded and focused during independent work, reading time, or sensory breaks.
The chair will be placed in our quiet work area, where students can use it when they need a break from overstimulation or when they’re working on tasks that require sustained attention. It will especially benefit students with autism who may need more physical comfort and movement to regulate their bodies and minds for learning.
How This Helps Students:
Supports students with autism and sensory needs by offering a calming, supportive seat.
Helps reduce sensory overload and promotes self-regulation.
Encourages focus, engagement, and independence during quiet or individual work time.
Adds to our flexible seating options, promoting student choice and inclusion.
Thank you for helping provide a sensory-friendly chair that will give my students the comfort, support, and calm they need to stay focused, feel safe, and reach their full potential each day.
