Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a Special Education Teacher at HES who teaches students with moderate to severe disabilities in grades TK- 1st grade. We are a public school located in San Diego, CA, which is in a large city setting. The student population is 451 and the school serves K-5.
The school’s minority student enrollment is 97%.
The school enrolls 95% economically disadvantaged students.
In order to provide a learning environment that my students can thrive in, my students need a classroom that they feel comfortable in and meets their sensory needs.
The supplies and materials that will help them include: puzzles, sensory fidgets, oral sensory chewies, weighted material, etc. This project will be beneficial to helping students stay focused, regulated, comfortable and ready to learn!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
