I am a third grade teacher of a Bilingual Special Education class. My students are the age of most 5th and 6th graders, but they function on a pre-K to Kindergarten level. My students love to read about animals. They love any story that involves an animal as they are fascinated by the animal kingdom. I have been teaching them to recognize letters of the alphabet in association with the names of animals. We would like to take a trip to the zoo to see actual animals and fill out as a group an alphabet hunt for animals that begin with letters of the alphabet. We would also like to participate in the "A Sense of the Rain Forrest" program that teaches students about the special animals that live in the endangered rain forrest by using their five senses. Sensory learning is so important for my students, and I know this program would be beneficial and memorable. We also will plan to attend the 11:30 a.m. feeding of the Sea Lions as this is a favorite activity of mine that I would like to share with my class. I think with all these great activities that my students will never forget this special trip. I ask that you please, help make it happen. Thanks!
