This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning as I walk onto the blacktop to pick up my first graders, I am greeted with hugs and "I missed you,” even if I saw them yesterday. They come to school with smiles on their faces the majority of days, and some days, their home lives show on their faces. I want to ensure that they have the best educational experience I can give them during their time with me.

My students are joyful, curious, and their hardships do not define them.

I work in a Title I school in California where 97% of the students receive free breakfast, lunch, and backpacks full of food to take home over the weekend. My students still come to school ready to learn and take on the world!

My Project

I will be returning to the classroom in less than 3 weeks. We will be teaching simultaneously, which means we will be teaching half our class in person and the other half online at the same time.

I need a second screen so my students who are at home can see their classmates that are in class and vice versa.

This will help build community in my class since we will not be all together in the same space at one time. This year has been difficult for all of us and this second screen and the cords needed to connect my class together will be a wonderful community builder.
