A Second Chance to Learn in Style

Help me give my students a safe and welcoming environment so that they can change their relationship with school. Flexible seating will incentivize coming to class and will help students start to envision their success.

My Project

I am taking over a program for approximately 200 students trying to recover classes and earn enough credits to graduate. These are students who have struggled to manage the demands of high school, often due to their lives outside of class. Our school is one of the most diverse schools in Oregon, and students here bring their multilingual brains and rich life experiences to the table, though the credit recovery program has not, in the past, recognized their genius and potential. I want to change that, showing them that they already possess the skills and determination to achieve greatness.

All students deserve to graduate, and I believe we set them up for success by making them feel welcomed and valued.

It is my hope that I can turn this program and my classroom into somewhere students want to be, somewhere where they can thrive and restore faith in their own academic abilities. I want to be a warm and supportive advocate for my students, just as I want my classroom to feel like home for them.
