My Students
I teach Academic Intervention Services to students in grades K-5. I encourage my students to know that they are readers.
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” -Margaret Fuller.
Our rural elementary school in upstate New York has a student population of 350 students. Our students are at risk of failing the New York State Assessments and students who are having difficulty academically are recommended to receive Academic Intervention Services. That's where my room comes into play.
My students are hardworking and imaginative, young learners. They strive every day to improve all areas of their literacy deficiencies. My students are all very eager to learn and love coming to school. They are independent, hardworking, and compassionate.
My Project
Teaching during a pandemic is hard to say the least. Because of Covid-19, our rugs were taken and put into storage. When I have students sit in front of the smart board to review phonics and reading, they have to sit on a cold floor. I am asking to be funded for seat cushions for our hard working kids! This will help them be more comfortable versus sitting on a cold tile floor. Thank you for your consideration of funding these for my kids, they truly deserve to be comfortable while they work extra hard during their school day!
