My Project

Kindergarten is a time for lots of play and exploration. However, it is also a year where we start the foundations of seat work that will be used for the rest of a student's academic career. This means sitting at a table and putting pencil to paper to show their work. Just like adults, not all students can handle sitting in a standard chair...it's just not how their brain works!

Alternative seating allows students to have choice, agency, and flexibility when choosing how and where to sit!

We have seen incredible results when students are able to move their bodies while completing table work. The connection to the brain is unmatched!

This project will enable our class to have 3 new seating options. The draft table chair is perfect for some tall standing desks we have and will also be used for students who need some spinning action. The wobble stool is a great option for students who need some movement when at a table. The bouncing ball chair can be used at the carpet or a table for some up and down movement.
