My students need construction paper for projects, a indoor/outdoor table and chairs to set up an area of science exploration, and a pack of refill filters for our classroom fish tank.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a kindergarten teacher in a general education class of 24 students. I want to provide my students with a wonderful learning environment full of hands-on experiences that encourage them to use their creative minds while learning the curriculum and core concepts.
My school is located in a high poverty neighborhood and a lack of funding requires that teachers spend their own money to provide many of the resources for their students.
My students are enthusiastic learners who deserve the best education and materials to support their learning.
My Project
I am asking for an indoor/outdoor table and chairs to use during outdoor time. I would also like to set up an area of science exploration. This table and chairs would provide a great space for my students to go to use magnifying glasses, color paddles, magnets, and more.
Prior to the increase in class size, I would use our picnic table, but now that table is full at snack time. I have bought several tables over the past couple years, but they were not suited for outdoor use. This set is durable enough to be used outside, and I know my young learners would enjoy being scientists during recess time. I am also asking for some construction paper for projects and a refill set of filters for our beautiful aquarium that we received through Donors Choose a couple of years ago. My students love having class pets, but buying the filters myself each month has proved to be quite expensive.
I love teaching science and providing my students with hands-on learning experiences.
With the increase in our instructional time being dedicated to English Language Development and Language Arts, my time to provide students with interactive learning devoted to science is limited. I would love to provide these experiences during their recess and lunch time by having a space to display tools, and materials. Thank you so much for your generosity and support for my enthusiastic learners!
