A Science Field Trip for our Pre-K Students with Special Needs!

My students need to explore animal life on a field trip to the Greensboro Science Center and have lunch provided also!

My Students

Do you remember coming to preschool as a young child and having fun while learning? Well our Pre-K students with special needs love coming to school! A field trip to the Greensboro Science Center will be a great experience to add to their love of learning!

Our Pre-K classes are blended with children with different types of special needs (Autism, Developmental Delays, fine and gross motor delays, Speech Delay, and other Disorders).

All of the students have some type of language and communication deficits. The students have difficulty understanding language and communicating their wants and needs. We use several augmentative communication devices, sign language to communicate, and picture symbols. Our school is a Title I school with 100% of the students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Most of the parents are single parents, which leaves little money to help with materials needed in the classroom.

My Project

This project will help pay for the admission fees and a lunch for our students during the field trip. Field trips are always a great way to get the kids excited about learning! This trip to the Greensboro Science Center will do just that! By going to the Greensboro Science Center, the Pre-K students will visit a museum, aquarium, and zoo. They will be able to see animals up and close. This will give the Pre-K students a better understanding of what we learn in our classrooms. The best part of the field trip will be allowing the students to touch and see animals we talk about so much. This will be the best experience for our young students with disabilities!
