Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This project will provide my students with tools to use within the classroom to help regulate their emotions and be able to calm themselves in a healthy way. This not only helps them be more successful in class, but also gives them healthy coping skills that with practice, will serve them for the rest of their lives!

My goal is to help my students gain the knowledge and understanding of their own emotions as I give them a voice in a safe space.

As students navigate the world, they often struggle with regulating their own emotions as they begin to experience new things. The wireless microphone will allow students to be heard as they read these books and express how they feel with the stress balls and mindful breathing boards. In addition, the Leaf Floor Seat Rocker Chairs will offer comfort in our SEL corner as students explore on their own.

These items will be in the classroom at all times and accessible for students to use as needed. The Yoga cards are items we can work with to bring calm and mindfulness to our curriculum. These students will be learning and practicing calming strategies and learning lifelong skills to help them manage their feelings and behavior.
