My Project

My students are a resilient group of seniors in an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) classroom who are working hard to earn their high school diplomas. They come to school every day balancing the stress of academics, work, and personal responsibilities, all while navigating the unique challenges that come with being part of the ESE population. For many of them, just making it to graduation is a major milestone—and they're determined to get there.

What they need now is a small corner of peace within our classroom.

I’m seeking support to create a Safe Space Corner—a calm, inviting area where students can step away from their desks, breathe, and regroup when the pressures of the day become overwhelming. This space will include soft seating, calming visuals, and sensory tools to help students self-regulate and return to class ready to focus and learn.

This isn’t just about comfort—it’s about giving students a chance to practice emotional regulation and self-care skills that will serve them long after graduation. For many of my students, the classroom is the only structured and supportive environment they can rely on. A designated safe space would send a powerful message: your mental and emotional health matters here.

By contributing to this project, you're helping provide a much-needed support system for students who are on the brink of one of life’s biggest transitions. You're helping them cross the finish line with dignity, strength, and the confidence that they can manage whatever comes next.
