Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our middle school is a brand new campus in a high-poverty area, serving over 1,250 students in grades 6 through 8. Over 88% of our students participate in the free or reduced-price lunch program. Our campus was created by combining students from two different middle schools and pulling up the 6th graders onto our campus from our four feeder elementary campuses. We are creating a new sense of family and community and serving a diverse population of students.

We create engaging learning environments that foster positive relationships and develop growth mindsets. We allow students to infuse technology in everything they do. We seek to build digital citizenship and responsibility in our students with what they create and share out into our digital world. Our students are caring, curious, creative, and love to work together in teams. They care about leaving a positive impression and the older students serve as role models to our younger 6th graders. We truly have the best students who deserve the very best!
My Project
Many of our students do not have a safe place to play in their neighborhoods or do not have the games they want to play. With your help we can give students a safe, fun, and engaging place they will want to go during their downtime while on campus. We would like to give our students games for the courtyard, lunchroom, library, and classrooms.
Having a safe place for students to hang out with their peers, play, and socialize is important for healthy social/emotional development.
Many students arrive about one hour before school, and many stay after school, and we want to give them fun activities and games to play with classmates while they wait.
Please help provide our students with fun and engaging games to play in our classrooms, courtyard and common areas before school, during lunch, and after school. Games like giant Connect 4, cornhole, bucketball, ring toss, ladder game, and giant Jenga will let students play games to develop teamwork and good sportsmanship.
