Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Starting kindergarten is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming for young learners. My students are preparing to begin their journey in a Dual Language Education program, learning literacy and content in both English and Spanish. Alongside academic growth, we teach our students to manage their emotions, solve problems with peers, and build resilience — skills that are just as important for success in school and life.
This All-in-One Calming Corner Bundle will create a dedicated space where students can relax, breathe, and reset when emotions run high.
The cozy beanbag, soft pillows, and sensory items provide comfort, while the feelings books and photo cards help students learn to recognize and name their emotions. The calming canopy offers a quiet, safe area where children can independently practice self-regulation skills. With tools like the lap desk and sand timer, students can monitor their time and return to the group feeling more in control and ready to learn.
My goal is to give every child the emotional support they need to thrive. When students feel safe and calm, they are better able to engage with learning, build friendships, and develop confidence. This calming corner will help our classroom become not just a place for academics, but a community where every child feels valued, supported, and ready to grow.
