it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The topics in Peer Counseling can be very in depth and intense. Because of this, my goal is to provide a safe and "at-home" feel to our class. I have orders for couches, bean bags, flexible seating arrangements already in place through school site but wanted to add some area rugs, pillows, and cushions to make it even more welcoming and comfy.
Peer counseling is a course where students learn about a variety of mental health topics and really learn to grow, heal, and love themselves from their own traumas and triggers before taking the next step of learning how to help others dealing with similar traumas and triggers.
I LOVE the growth each student displays throughout this course as well as their willingness to move forward with empathy and kindness when dealing with their peers.
