My Project

Students who have experienced trauma often feel anxious in unpredictable environments. A classroom carpet with clearly defined seating spaces provides them with a sense of structure and security. Knowing exactly where to sit each day reduces anxiety and helps them feel more in control. Additionally, having a designated space prevents crowding or unexpected physical contact, which can be triggering for some students. This consistency allows them to focus on learning rather than worrying about where to go or how to navigate the space, ultimately creating a calmer and safer classroom environment.

I am moving from a secondary school to elementary to teach first grade.

I want to be able to provide them with their own home away from home! This will include comfortable seating and rugs as well as fidget options to keep their stirring fingers at bay.
