My Project
Fifth grade is such a special year—students are becoming more independent, but they still deeply benefit from a sense of community and structure. In my classroom, having a gathering rug isn’t just about sitting; it’s about grounding lessons, creating a consistent space for meaningful conversations, and providing a cozy place where students feel safe, focused, and connected.
This rug will serve as the heart of our classroom—used during whole-group instruction, read-alouds, classroom meetings, and collaborative partner work.
It gives students a dedicated space to transition, reflect, and build community, while also allowing for movement and flexible learning styles. For many of my students, especially those who struggle with attention or sensory needs, this kind of grounding space is vital for their engagement and success. With your support, we can build a classroom that not only educates but truly nurtures.
