This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is in an urban, high poverty area, and 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. My students have grown up in the inner city. Many of my students deal with poverty and crime on a daily basis, which might seem unimaginable to some of us. Although my students deal with trauma on a daily basis, they still come to school with a smile on their face, eager to learn and grow.
My students are in need of a new rug to learn, explore and grow!
As summer is approaching all I can think about is making my classroom ready for my new kindergarten students in September. Each day my class gathers at the carpet to greet one another, read together, explore math manipulatives and share ideas. A new carpet would allow a comfortable spot for each student to perform at their absolute best!
Along with a rug, most of my students will come to school without any supplies to use. I am also asking for the essentials: glue sticks, crayons, pencils, construction paper and dry erase markers.
Any contribution to this project would mean the world to my students and I! Thank you for your support!
My Project
These materials will help make learning fun and exciting from the very first day of school! Since many of my students can not afford to bring in their own supplies, I hope to have the supplies ready for them to show how much I care from the very first day of school.
A new rug will help make our classroom a better place to learn!
This rug will be a place where we learn and grow together. It is where most of our learning will take place!
