A Rug for Learning and Building Our Classroom Community

My Project

A colorful classroom rug will serve as the main meeting spot in our classroom. We will use it for Morning Meeting, learning, and more! Our Morning Meeting is the most important part of our day for building a classroom community where everyone feels safe, accepted, and welcome. This rug will also serve as a place where my little kindergartners can learn and collaborate with each other.

We have been without a rug for a few years since COVID.

Although I've tried various alternatives to the rug, nothing can replace a comfortable and clean classroom rug as a perfect meeting place in our classroom. A new rug means a space where we can all come together, learn appropriate personal space, and learn and grow together. In addition to holding our classroom meetings at the rug, we will also use the rug for whole group instruction, small group instruction, read alouds, and more.
