A Room With a Rug

Help me give my students a clean classroom rug on which they will engage in whole and small group activities.

My Students

I teach in an inner city school in upstate NY. The children at this grade level are sponges that are always eager to learn and explore new things!

I have 23 Kindergarten students coming from a variety of different economic backgrounds, 100% of whom receive free lunch.

This year I have 11 ENL students who speak a variety of languages. I am so excited to engage this year's class! My goal is to help each child move into the 21st century by providing a classroom rich in engaging, hands on materials.

My Project

After 10 years, my previously used rug has seen finally seen its day and is ready to retire. Over the years, children have had accidents, thrown up on, and spilled things on the rug. We spend a great part of our school day learning there, but I worry about my children sitting on this rug. While the custodians try to clean our rugs each year, the wear and tear, stains and odors are simply impossible to clean.

I would love to provide my class with a bright, clean, new rug.

A rug that I am confident is free of germs, dirt, and dust. My class sits for a great part of our school day. They sit on the carpet for story telling and reading mini-lessons, they gather on the carpet for writing and math, and for leisure activities (like puzzles, self-selected reading, games, etc.) Please assist me in providing my class with a clean learning environment.
