A Representative Classroom for Classroom Community

My Project
I teach MLL (Multi-Lingual Learners) students at the high school level. Most of my students are newcomers in their first year in America learning English as a second language. Visuals are so important for these students.
Hanging up flags that specifically represent their country helps students feel welcome, accepted and celebrated, thus creating a safe place to take academic risks and challenge themselves.
Students will use dry erase pockets and markers to engage in small group activity. Headphones are extremely helpful for students to improve their English by listening to readings and recording their pronunciation. The Fruitella Gummies are a healthier alternative/treat to gift to a student when they have their birthday. Many of them don't have family in the country so writing a "Happy Birthday note" and attaching it to a pack of real fruit juice candy helps them to feel special. Because I teach at such a large school, I don't have the budget to buy these for all students. That's why they are also listed within this project.
