A Relatable Classroom Library

My Students

I work in a special education resource room with grades K-5, and my students are amazing!! It is so fun to get to work with different students all day, everyday, and see all of the fun we can have with learning!

All of my students have different learning needs, which means my classroom needs a variety of things to support them.

My Project

The books included in this project are modern books that tell stories about ALL people. It is so important to me that my students will be able to see themselves through books, and relate to the experiences, and these are just a few of the many that will help them do so.

These books are relatable, funny, emotional, real, and raw.

They will teach students that it is OK to be who they are, and that who they are is amazing.

I will read these books aloud, students will read these books aloud, and hopefully tell their friends and families about them. These few items are a lot more than just books - they're experiences, feelings, and people being acknowledged and validated.
