My Project
I teach autistic students in an 8:1:2 classroom setting in the Bronx. My goal for this project is to enhance their learning experience by adding a new cozy area. Many of my students struggle with self-regulation.
This new area would help my students find a way to identify their feelings and learn self-soothing techniques.
The new arch would be where they could go and have a quiet moment, a space for relaxation, and an area to practice coping strategies and reduce anxiety and stress levels. This new space will help reduce meltdowns and improve their learning.
