Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a third year 6th grade teacher at E.P. Todd Elementary School in Spartanburg, SC. I teach 44 students language arts and social studies each day. My goal as a language arts teacher is to help my students become better readers, and to instill within my students a love for reading. In order to become better readers, students need time in school each day to read independently. Creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere is important as well. Imagine sinking down into a bean bag and becoming lost in a book. That is the atmosphere I want to create in my room. I know that my students' motivation and love for reading would only increase with the bean bags. My goal is to turn my room into a "reading paradise." Thank you so much for caring enough to invest in the lives of students!
