Ms. Kyria Parker from Inverness MS is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a reading corner. I will use the United States rug as a way for students to sit/lay on the floor to work on social studies skills or simply read a book.

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking forward to giving them a higher quality of learning!
My students have to share a computer lab with the entire school, which limits their web based instruction!
I'm trying to change that by having our own lab cart, giving us enough tablets for over half of my students to use technology at one time. Students will be able to access the OUTSIDE world while being INSIDE my class! Instead of internet usage once a week, it'll be everyday. Only then will I be able to fully incorporate web based learning as a part of everyday instruction.
The United States floor rug will help students become familiar with the 50 states and show them the importance of each state. It will also teach them borders, cardinal and intermediate directions, and more! This rug will serve as a reading corner for students that finish assignments early. They will be allowed to come to the rug and study the map, read a book, complete web based activities (from a tablet), and or draw.
The workbook will help me provide enrichment activities related to social studies for students that need extra practice or differentiated instruction.
I can also use it for homework activities!
