My Students
In a midwestern state where education suffers from budget issues, in a school where half of the students participate in a free or reduced-price lunch program and many do not speak English, our administrators' concern for test scores has brought us to the Engage New York curriculum.
We are proud of our outstanding athletes, musicians, and traditions as well as award-winning clubs, including the yearbook.
Might I add how much I love working with this dedicated faculty and talented students?
My Project
As I complete my first DonorsChoose project this quarter with novels purchased for my classroom, I see a need to repeat the process to procure books for fourth quarter. The Common Core push toward nonfiction reading materials has lead our district to the Engage New York curriculum and this book in particular. Students will read articles that complement the book, bringing insight to their eating habits and those of our country in general. Hopefully, their state testing PARCC scores will improve while also encourage them to rethink and change any poor choices made at the dinner table in the future!
